The leftover Idlis got a makeover today. For me this is the best way to have the leftover #idli. Stir fry them with tempered mustard seeds and curry leaves. Add some salt, pinch of turmeric and red chilly powder or sometimes I add #sambhar masala ( just my thing) and keep it on low flame for sometime till they have crispy edges. Serve it with any sauce or chutney of choice and taaddaa #teatime #snack is ready. Saucy Chicken Strips with Savory Rice 💛 Recipe & Picture from: @sabehaskitchen (Sabeha Arbee) Ingredients: 500g chicken fillet cubed Marinate chicken in: 1tsp garlic 1/2tsp red Chilli paste 1tbls mustard sauce 2tbls Steers Garlic sauce 2tbls lemon juice 1tsp x salt , Chilli powder and black pepper. 1 green Chilli slit in half Sauce: Half a green pepper cubed Half onion cubed 3tbls tomato sauce 3tbls mayonnaise 3tbls Chilli sauce (any type) 2tsp tamarind paste diluted with lemon juice to make a smooth paste Method: 1. Marinate chicken in above ingredients in a pot and place in the oven to cook for 10-15 minutes on 180degrees. 2. Take a separate pot and place on the stove with ghee, sauté the onions and peppers for 2-3 minutes and then add in the ingredients under “sauce”. 3. Mix well for a further 2-3 mins and let it simmer on the stove. Then remove and place sauce into pot with chicken. 4. Make sure sauce and chicken is well incorporated and then place back into the oven to cook for another 10-12 minutes. 5. Serve with savory rice- boil 1 cup rice in a pot with salted water, add a pinch of tumeric to get the yellow color and put in some frozen corn and peas a few minutes before rice is almost done. 6. Garnish with fresh Dhania and ground black pepper. What: Iftar Buffet Where: Salt ‘n’ Pepper, a Pakistani restaurant I suppose Rate: 60 QAR (circa) Kesa tha? Acha, alhamdhulillah! The place is not only nice itself but also had a good taste! What you see in the first picture are iftar essentials, that I personally don’t like of anywhere except if they’re home made so no comments on those. 🤐 Then, the sandwiches tasted.. like just another sandwich (no, shit). The dinner dishes had the mainstream desi food, biryani karahi/qorma and roti, and tandoori chikan that tasted not any different from desi food elsewhere, (except if it’s Zaoq/Spice&Sizzle). There was another section of food (that I forgot to capture) that had more stuff, like fried fish (that was a bit too chat patti for me, a bit too salty). THE HIGHLIGHT 🌟: the dessert side! Absolutely loved the variety and to my surprise, it was good in quality, too! The different types mousse (or that’s what I think it was), the different types of kheer.. haye may margayi! 🤤 And no, the yellow cuboids are not mango pieces, they’re pudding ones. All in all, not a bad place to go too. There is a difference in their buffet upstairs and down, by the way. In at least the dessert and the iftar section. Should you go? I don’t know. I was their because we were invited by people.. the food quality is good.. but not something that you’re missing out on. 🤨 So, IDK, decide for yourself. 🤷🏻‍♀️

#TuesdayBreakfast: coconut masala chai doughnuts with a dusting of chai masala and a drizzle of almond butter. It went down beautifully with some hot cup of chai. . It’s a recipe I’m testing to see if I can make stuff that feels like guilty cheat food, but is really not. Stuff that are high protien and low carb. These were batch two of the morning and they turned out all kinds of masala chai peppery, spicy good. A little more work to make these babies more bouncy and I’d be happy. .
