One of the most common things we see these days is contradicting information on nutrition. How do you know which is fact? As I went through my studies I was always told by my instructor to ask these questions before believing ANYTHING! 1. Does the claim make sense? •if it's too incredible to believe, disregard it 2. Where did the information come from? •if it's based on personal opinions (ex. blogs) that are not supported by studies, it may not be true •always check credentials of those who supply your facts 3. Was the info based on well-desifned experiments? •reliable information is based on scientific studies that use proper controls •studies published in peer reviews have been evaluated for accuracy before published 4. Was the experiment results interpreted properly? •compare news stories to studies to see if the news has been exaggerated to make the headline attractive •if the study was done with animals, carefully consider if the results would also apply to humans 5. Who stands to benefit? •if the info is being used to sell a product, it may be biased to that product •if the claim is making magazines or newspapers headlines more appealing, claims could be exaggerated to promote sales 6. Has it stood the test of time? •if the study is the first to support a particular finding, wait before jumping on the wagon for studies to back up the claims 7. Does it pose a risk? •be sure the expected benefit of the product is worth the risk associated with using it There are so many "fad diets" these days. With keto being high on that list. There have not been enough studies on many of these diets to support the claims they're presenting. Just be mindful of the information that you are receiving and where it's coming from, because everyone had an opinion. Few bother to look for the facts!

The Abby @meetup group planned a hike for Tuesday and with the temperature forecasted to be 30c , it was decided to do a hike that put us in the trees for most of the day . Not as strenuous as the past hikes , only 10km but with lots of ups and down so got a pretty decent workout and definitely a good sweat . Because we were in trees all day , not many good views. The view point at the top was mostly overgrown so a little disappointing Fun fact Since it’s called teapot hill , people hide tea pots along the trail in the last uphill section to the view point.
